Spain's #1 Selling Table Wine introduces PET Packaging for US

J. Garcia-Carrion (JGC), producer of Cristalino Cava, introduces Don Simon Class -- Spain's reigning table wine and best selling Spanish wine in the world -- to the U.S. Market. Uniquely packaged in light-weight recyclable premium non-glass PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottles, Don Simon Class is now the most environmentally friendly packaged wine to be sold in the U.S.

Don Simon's innovative PET containers boast the benefit of having a greener carbon footprint than regular glass containers by producing 50% - 60% fewer greenhouse emissions, consuming less energy, generating less solid waste, and weighing 30% less. Additionally, the screw caps prevent cork taint, ensuring consistency in taste. The aseptic green packaging is easier on the environment, does not compromise the quality or flavor profile of the wine, and promises to be the newest trend.

"As producers and global distributors of consumer goods, we have an environmental responsibility to prevent waste of potentially useful materials while helping reduce pollution," stated Jose Garcia-Carrion Jordan. "By using eco-friendly non-glass bottles, we hope to promote environmental consciousness and bring our customers a product they can feel good about enjoying."

Produced by the top wine company in Spain, J. Garcia-Carrion (JGC), a family-owned business with over 100 years of tradition in wine production, Don Simon Class wines are developed in Daimiel in the region of Castilla-La Mancha -- the largest vineyard in the world with 600,000 hectares (more vineyards than Australia and Chile combined). The emerging area provides excellent wines at reasonable prices to compete against New World Wines.

The Daimiel plant, where Don Simon Class is produced and packaged, is a state-of-the-art production facility that uses the newest techniques of tangential filtration and sterile micro filtration and is equipped with the latest technology such as ultra-modern stainless macrotanks for fermentation. It is the most efficient plant in Europe. The entire winemaking process at the facility is completely automatic, which enables it to produce 800 million units of wine and juice a year (1 million units per employee); including red and white Don Simon Class varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet-Merlot, Merlot, and Chardonnay.
