White Laydie gin bottle by Saxco
Montgomery Distillery in Missoula, MT, is a fairly new company, but its Whyte Laydie Dry Gin is steeped in tradition, named after an antique banjo that has been in the family for decades. To create a package that imparted its smoothness, taste and history, owners contacted Saxco Intl.
"We were challenged to help create an overall design that would not only offer an attractive and distinctive overall appearance, but also would deliver a prominent shelf identification," explains Jimmy Owens, new product representative for Saxco.
Saxco partnered with a glass supplier in Asia to source a custom-molded 750mL extra-flint, cosmetic-quality, book-shaped bottle with a reverse taper, short neck and flat bottom. The package is enhanced with special embossments on either side, one identifying Missoula and the other Montana. An elegant black wood-topped cork closure with the company logo was provided by Portuguese supplier J.C. Ribeiro. Black-and-silver die-cut pressure-sensitive front-and-back labels, and a tamper-evident tax stamp fitted over the closure, were handled by the distillery.
Whyte Laydie Gin is being launched in Montana, through the distillery's site and selected retailers throughout the state.
