Interpack, the expansive global packaging and processing trade fair, is coming back. Interpack 2023 will be held in Germany, at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre, May 4-10, 2023. The event, which typically occurs every three years, was last held in 2017.

The focus of the event will be state-of-the-art packaging technologies and trends, including automation and sustainability. Interpack’s organizers expect the event to draw more than 2,800 exhibitors and nearly 171,000 attendees from 55 countries.

Packaging education and training opportunities at interpack 2023 will include “Life without Packaging,” a new one-day conference that will examine the topics of packaging, sustainability, and environment from different perspectives.

Hot topics at interpack 2023 will include:

• The circular economy, with attention to improved recyclability, design for recycling, and package light-weighting.

• Resource management, such as energy-efficient components and intelligent control and automation technology.

• Digital technologies, which can be used to boost process and production efficiencies and to enable flexible production.

• Product safety, achieved via hygienic machine design, innovative cleaning concepts, process monitoring, containment solutions, and the like.

New organization for the Halls.

Exhibitors will be located in the venue’s 18 halls, which for the first time will be organized by core markets such as food, beverages, confectionery and baked goods, pharmaceutical products, cosmetics, non-food, and industrial goods. Interpack 2023 will occupy the entire Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre.

Specific halls will also be devoted to packaging materials and finished packaging products and to labeling and marking equipment.

The “components” trade fair, scheduled to take place alongside interpack 2023, will feature technologies for drives, control units, sensors, and handling; industrial imaging, software, and communication products; and packaging automation systems.

Machine parts, equipment components, and peripheral devices will be included in the components event, as well. Interpack visitors will have direct access to the components fair and vice versa.
