PMMI introduces race at PACK EXPO las Vegas

The Amazing Packaging Race will make its Las Vegas debut Sept. 28, providing packaging students an opportunity to better understand the industry they've chosen to serve by exploring the show floor, interacting with exhibitors and attendees, and new technologies at PACK EXPO Las Vegas 2011.

"PACK EXPO is the largest packaging event in the western hemisphere, and The Amazing Packaging Race puts students right in the thick of it," said Charles D. Yuska, president and CEO, PMMI. "The show brings packaging and processing together in an active and engaging format that represents a unique opportunity for these students to interact with these industries."

The premise of the Amazing Packaging Race is for packaging students to visit participating exhibitor booths and complete tasks of varying difficulty in order to earn points - the team with the most points at the end of the contest wins.

As in 2010, students will be broken out into teams and have a three-hour timeframe to compete. Each member of the winning team will walk away with a new Apple iPad. Student teams will utilize tools such as the PACK EXPO product locators to complete the challenges.

"PACK EXPO is the one place these future packaging leaders can truly connect with the industry, seeing the latest innovations and getting hands-on experience with the entire range of packaging and processing products," Yuska added.

PACK EXPO Las Vegas exhibitors can participate in The Amazing Packaging Race by hosting one of the many learning activities. For more information about participation, exhibitors can contact Danny Martinez, PMMI education coordinator at [email protected] or 703.243.8555.
