Innovation center certified by transit group
March 11, 2015
Protexic Brands announced that the recently inaugurated Protexic Innovation and
Solution Center has been certified by the International Safe Transit Association
(ISTA).
The ISTA organization is the most trusted, knowledgeable and respected authority
in package-performance testing, and has been recognized as the leading global
authority in package performance testing standards for over 60 years.
"The Protexic Innovation and Solution Center was created to bring our customers
valuable solutions for their packaging and specialty component needs," said Bill
Bucklew, Director of Engineering. "The newly certified testing operation will
allow us to focus on the engineering of innovative and environmentally friendly
designs, the reduction of material content and the overall cost of the final
package" concluded Bucklew.
"At a time when creating a sustainable package validates a manufacturer's
sustainability efforts, an ISTA certification is proof that science --not
guesswork-- has been applied to ensure that a package can survive material
handling and transportation stress," said Scott Novak, Vice President of
Marketing and New Business Development. "A package that fails in the transit
environment is simply not sustainable," concluded Novak.
Headquartered in Arlington Heights, IL, the Innovation & Solution Center
is a 10,000 square foot state-of-the-art-laboratory, housing multiple CNC and
foam profile machines and corrugated cutting tables that provide rapid
prototyping samples for design iteration, testing and customer use.
The center has an experienced team of engineers, dedicated R&D staff and an Engineering
Services team. The newly ISTA certified testing facility performs random
frequency vibration, impact, crush, drop and burst testing. Its testing
capabilities also include data acquisition equipment and a high speed video
camera that documents how the package performed during testing.
