A new IV bag-printing system is designed for bags that will be filled with infusions, parenteral drugs and other pharmaceutical and biotechnological fluids. The system integrates the co.'s NGT large-format thermal-transfer coding system with the ZBM bag-feeding system from Bomers Technology B.V. The system features a print area of up to 8.4x19.68-in., and the ability to print fixed and variable data, which improves product security and tracking with UPC and lot and production codes, the co. states. Using the IV bag printer, an operator can load up to 1,500 bags at once and then step away. With servo-controlled positioning, the system automatically feeds and prints up to 1,250 bags/hr. Additionally, the bag size can be changed over in 5 min or less, with no tools or changeparts required.
