Bemis Co. acquires Mayor Packaging of Hong Kong

Bemis Co. Inc. has acquired Mayor Packaging, a privately-owned manufacturer of consumer and specialty flexible packaging including a manufacturing facility in Dongguan, China. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

 

Stora Enso concludes acquisition of majority share of Inpac Intl. in China and India

Stora Enso has completed the acquisition of 51 percent of the Chinese packaging company Inpac Intl.


Sonoco-Alcore makes additional investment in European mills
Sonoco-Alcore S.a.r.l., a wholly owned subsidiary of Sonoco, is making multi-million dollar investments in three of its uncoated recycled paperboard (URB) mills in Europe to improve their energy efficiency, product range and environmental performance. The projects will be completed during scheduled downtime in August and September 2011.

Diamond Packaging wins highest honor for its centennial calendar
Diamond Packaging won its first ever Benny Award in the 62nd annual Premier Print Awards competition for its centennial calendar, which showcases its folding carton decorating capabilities, including specialty coating, foil stamping, and embossing. Printing Industries of America (PIA) hosts the Premier Print Awards, which recognizes the creation and production of superior print communications.

 

Atlapac purchases high-speed pouch machine, removes poly bag lines
Atlapac, an American contract manufacturer of pouches and bags, announces the arrival of another new high speed pouch machine. This machine was just purchased by Atlapac due to the overwhelming demand for contract converted stand-up pouches. To make room for the machines, Atlapac recently sold several lines for hot wire or side weld polybag manufacturing.

On Sunday, July 31, PaperWorks mill in Wabash logged its one millionth consecutive hour without an accident.

 

BASF to increase prices for Polyamide 6 polymer in North America
BASF will increase the price for Polyamide (PA) 6 spinning polymer by $0.05 per pound, effective August 15, 2011.
