Packaging Graphics Installs First manroland 40 inch 17-Unit Press
January 29, 2014
Packaging Graphics, a division of The MATLET Group, has installed a manroland R700 Ultima Press, which according to the company is the first 17-unit, 40 inch sheet fed press ever built.
Most noteworthy is the fact that the press is equipped with an in-line foiler. According to the company this technology positions Packaging Graphics as the only packaging company in the US with the ability to apply foil at press speeds. In addition, the press prints up to ten-colors, and is equipped with a perfector, interstation UV lamps and multiple coating units, allowing Packaging Graphics to spot blister, provide multiple coatings per form, and to split coatings by product line.
"With the 17-unit press, we are able to eliminate passes, reduce make ready times by 75%, and apply foil in-line seamlessly at press speed," said Brad Hankin, plant manager at Packaging Graphics. "We equipped the press with multiple coating units and integrated the console directly into our pre-press. The configuration of this press exemplifies the versatility necessary to exceed our client's present and future expectations."
Packaging Graphics has also created a secured area on the plant floor to house the 127 foot press.
"We have a security curtain, which runs from floor to ceiling around the entire press. This will enable us to maintain confidentiality when producing packaging for new product launches," said Nick Carafa, company President. "The addition of this state of the art press demonstrates Packaging Graphics' commitment to providing our customers with innovations that will fuel cost reductions, outstanding graphics and faster time to market."
