Packaging Systems Firm Given Environmental Excellence Award

TriMas Corporation -- a diversified growth company of highly-engineered, specialty niche businesses -- today announced that Rieke Packaging Systems has been presented the Governor's Award for Environmental Excellence for "Five Years of Continuous Improvement." The award was presented at the 11th Annual Pollution Prevention Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana on September 17th.

"Since the infancy of our ISO 14001 program in 2002, we have adopted continuous improvement objectives focused on reducing waste and protecting our environment," commented Lynn Brooks, President of Rieke Packaging Systems. "I am proud of the commitment demonstrated from our team and pleased with the progress we have made to date. These efforts not only reduce waste, but also save money and benefit the community."

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM), in cooperation with the Lieutenant Governor's Office of Energy and Defense Development, the Indiana Department of Administration, and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, sponsor these awards to recognize Indiana's leaders who have implemented outstanding environmental strategies into their operations and decision-making processes. Rieke Packaging Systems demonstrated its commitment to the environment by working with the community in emergency preparedness, implementing its ISO 14001 program and increasing material recycling efforts, as well as reducing emissions and wastes.
