Unique lip balm container seeks boost from ABC’s ‘Shark Tank’
Packaging developments, especially totally new ideas, often need loving care to come to fruition. They also need a steady influx of cash.
For the entrepreneurs at Balm Chicky Balm Balm, their five-year journey in creating The Friend End lip balm container has been undeterred by the word “no.”
The Friend End—a lip balm cylinder with a second stash of balm stored in the base—solves an unmet consumer need. It helps consumers share lip relief without sharing germs.
Co-founder Abby Schwalb explains, "The Friend End design idea stemmed from a simple act that so many of us balm users encounter—pulling a tube of lip balm out of your pocket or bag and having a friend, co-worker or someone else ask if they can borrow your balm for their own chapped lips. We've noticed that, like yawning, using lip balm is almost a contagious act and so lip balm borrowing runs rampant."
Co-founders Schwalb and Liz Moskow and, who invented and patented The Friend End, will pitch their Balm Chicky Balm Balm products—and their two-in-one package—on ABC’s “Shark Tank” on Tues., Feb. 3 at 8 p.m. ET.
As they say in their blog: “At http://balmchicky.com/, we know how big our Huge Cucumber Lip Balm is going to be, and we've been waiting 5 years to prove it to you.”
Good luck!
