Color-changing sealant

Patent-pending color-changing sealant technology for heat-seal applications provides cost-effective product security, anti-counterfeiting and brand marketing advantages. A film of one transparent color transfers a peel indicator of a different color to provide visual indication that a package has been opened. Many color combinations can be accommodated to help support branding initiatives. The coextrusion-coated sealant can be applied to any thermally-stable web up to 65-inches wide, including polyester, nylon and polypropylene or on any of the company's ClearFoil barrier structures. Chevron pouches and lidding materials for medical trays are expected to be the first commercialized applications, but any high-value item in a flexible package could benefit from this technology.
