Cryopak opens manufacturing facility in Southern California
December 9, 2015
Cryopak, a complete cold chain packaging solution provider, recently exhibited at Pharmapack North Americaand told PMP News about its newest manufacturing facility that opened in Poway, CA. According to the company, it was looking to increase its presence in the western United States. It is headquartered in Edison, NJ.
Veronique Blostein, marketing support specialist, says the Poway location is only a manufacturing facility. The new facility will manufacture gel packs and insulated boxes, as well as store stock shipments of Cryopak’s Phase 5 and Phase 22 products. For its package testing, Cryopak's ISTA certified labs are in Edison; Eden Prairie, MN; and Fountain Valley, CA.
“Previously, clients in this region either had to receive shipments from our Vancouver, Canada office or from offices in the eastern United States, both of which have their own concerns, such as customs requirements and high shipping costs,” Blostein says.
For clients in California and the surrounding states, she adds that Cryopak’s shipping time and costs will be minimized having the manufacturing location on the west coast.
“Over a period of time, this facility will have the capabilities to supply all of the insulated shipping products that are currently supplied out of other Cryopak locations,” she says.
Additionally, Cryopak seeks to expand its service capabilities in the Midwest, and Blostein adds that an official announcement is in the coming months.
“We currently have several new products in development to meet the needs of our clients that align with requirements within the healthcare industry,” she says.
Cryopak does not have any licensing updates in 2015, but Blostein says within the last year it released its K1 electronic temperature indicator, which provides a more accurate reading compared to the commonly used chemical indicators.
