Hammer Packaging celebrates centennial
Hammer Packaging, a packaging printing firm in Rochester, NY, is celebrating its 100-year anniversary this year. Originally named Genesee Valley Lithograph, the company started off printing seed packets and has since grown to focus on label printing technology. Services include shrink sleeve, foam, roll-fed, in-mold, cut/stack and pressure-sensitive labels; the company also produces specialty items, such as box wraps, hang tags and premium packets. In the coming years, executives plan on continuing to invest in new technologies and expand service offerings.

 

Datalogic acquires Accu-Sort Systems
Datalogic S.p.A. (a manufacturer of bar-code readers, data collection computers, RFID and vision systems) has acquired Accu-Sort Systems Inc. Datalogic completed the acquisition of Accu-Sort Systems, which supplies automatic identification products. Based in Telford, PA, the acquired company has annual revenues of approximately $92 million and employs around 250 staffers; it has one production facility in the U.S., two research centers and eight sales offices.

 

Eriez to mark 70-year anniversary
Magnetic, vibratory and inspection equipment manufacturer Eriez is celebrating its 70-year anniversary this year. The company has manufacturing facilities in Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Europe, India, Japan, Mexico and South Africa, and at its Erie, PA headquarters. The firm also has sales offices across the U.S. and in 80 international markets. The firm's plans for the year include opening a new facility in Erie, introducing new products and continuing to hire new employees.

 

B2B Industrial Packaging expands repair facility
B2B Industrial Packaging LLC has increased capacity at its Addison, IL repair center to add the ability to repair arch machine and stretch wrapper equipment. The facility will continue to offer tool repair service to its packaging industry clients.The company also sells strapping, banding, and stretch film.

 

MAUSER expands US-based IBC bottle capacity
MAUSER Group has expanded IBC bottle production capacity in its Houston facility by adding a second blow-molding machine. With the new machine, the company reports, it has boosted its output of 275-gallon IBC units and bottles, and added the ability to supply 330-gallon IBCs to the Southwest region.

 

Anderson Packaging receives Ill. business award
Pharma packaging firm Anderson Packaging, a business unit of AmerisourceBergen Consulting Group, has received the Illinois Performance Excellence Silver Award for Progress Toward Excellence. The honor is given to companies that demonstrate sound and notable continuous improvement processes. According to Shawn Reilley, president of Anderson Packaging, the company aims "to incorporate the philosophies and methodologies of a performance-excellence driven organization into every aspect of our business."

 

Paperboard Packaging Council achieves recyclable paperboard milestone
The Paperboard Packaging Council has achieved its goal of issuing 35 licenses for using the "Paperboard Packaging Recyclable" logo to converters in 2011. Of the 35 licensees, 27 are PPC members. This industry-standard recyclable logo is designed to be printed directly onto paperboard packaging as a clear reminder to consumers to properly dispose of packaging waste in curbside recycling bins after use. PPC has made available the registered trademark logo to all packaging companies free of charge. Companies can become licensed to receive a high-resolution logo by visiting the group's website, downloading the licensing agreement and reviewing a list of simple printing recommendations.
