As average Americans become increasingly busy, more and more are reaching for snacks or "mini meals" throughout the day. New turkey snacks from Jennie-O offer consumers a convenient way to grab a better-for-you bite when time is limited.

JENNIE-O Turkey Tacos Mini Soft Taco Kits are ideal for the 40 percent of Americans who prefer to eat snack foods throughout the day versus sitting down for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as the 53 percent of Americans who eat snack foods as dinner, according to a Kelton Research snack-related survey.

JENNIE-O Turkey Nachos Mini Nacho Kit, introduced in 2011 as part of the brand's fully cooked turkey snack and appetizer line, recently received a fresh look to the product's packaging. The exterior cardboard sleeve more prominently reflects the JENNIE-O brand - leveraging the green and white color scheme that consumers recognize - and prominently calls out turkey as the main ingredient.

Beneath the exterior packaging, the ground turkey comes in an easier-to-use microwavable cup, replacing the previously used plastic pouch. The updated packaging allows for easier assembly of the nachos and more complete usage of the nacho meat.

"At Jennie-O, we understand people want quick and easy solutions to make it easy to eat well," said Wendy Benson, associate product manager at Jennie-O Turkey Store. "We created Turkey Taco kits to provide a convenient, great tasting, better-for-you turkey mini meal option from a brand that consumers trust."

The suggested retail price is $5.99. TurkeyTaco kits began shipping to retailers in September and will hit shelves in mid-October 2012. The product is delivered with a 50-day shelf life.

Jennie-O Turkey Store, Inc., based in Willmar, Minn., is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hormel Foods Corp.
