Presto Products introduces its first compostable closure, Fresh-Lock zipper style 8015. The closure is made with 100%-certified compostable resins, and certification of the zipper itself is pending. The closure is also US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved for food contact.

Packaging applications for the compostable zipper include dry herb and leaf products. The closure is easy to open, and its lock is designed for product security and consumer convenience. The design also provides high product-side holding strength, ensuring pouch performance.

According to Presto Products, the compostable closure provides excellent machinability with a variety of compostable films. The zipper was designed to seal efficiently at lower temperatures than many commonly used materials, and it provides better material stability for storage and machining than competitive alternatives.

The company will be exhibiting this new product at Pack Expo Las Vegas 2021 (Las Vegas Convention Center, September 27-29), Booth C-2316.
