Plastipak announces successful commercialization of new lightweight hot-fill technology
Plastipak Packaging, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Plastipak Holdings, Inc. announced that it has successfully commercialized its new ThermoShape lightweight hot-fill technology. The first ThermoShape integrated high-speed blow and fill complete packaging line went into commercial operation this month at Al Ain Mineral Water Company, a beverage subsidiary of Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) based Agthia Group. Agthia is a leading Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) area food and beverage manufacturer. A second ThermoShape™ line is scheduled to begin commercial operation at a beverage manufacturer in France by the end of 2010.
Alcoa launches aluminum can recycling app for iPhone
Alcoa announced the launch of a free iPhone application compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad that will make it easier for consumers to recycle aluminum cans. The new app – called Aluminate – will help consumers find recycling centers, track how many aluminum cans they recycle, and calculate the cash they can earn as they help protect the environment through recycling aluminum cans.
Aleris Rolled Products North America names Stephen Stone VP Sales & Marketing
Aleris International, Inc. named Stephen Stone vice president, Sales and Marketing of its Rolled Products North America business, effective today. Stone will lead all sales and marketing activities for aluminum rolled products, including mill-finish, coated and tread sheets, foil and plate for the automotive, building and construction, transportation, packaging, industrial products and distribution industries.
