Beverage packaging: Tetra Pak celebrates 30th birthday of juice box

The iconic juice box is being celebrated for its contemporary role in today’s American life via the launch of a new website and a campaign featuring former “Full House” star and current star of ABC Family’s “Make it or Break It” Candace Cameron Bure.

The campaign, developed by Tetra Pak – introducer of the technology in North America – and supported by Hansen’s Junior Juice, showcases how the kid-friendly juice box has been meeting the nutritional and lifestyle needs demanded by families for decades and is still a favorite of moms and children because of its convenient shape and great benefits.

The juice box birthday, celebrated at http://juiceboxbirthday.com, features a specially-commissioned song by family-friendly music group the Juice Box Heroes. And consumers have an opportunity to create and submit original “Celebrate the Juice Box” music videos themed around the song for a chance to win $2,500, a year’s supply of juice boxes and more.

The site includes family-friendly games and activities and also features a special message from actress and mother of three Bure. “What I loved as a kid is even more relevant to me today as a mom,” Bure said. “Juice boxes are the perfect fit for our on-the-go lifestyle. Their sturdy packaging makes them easy to transport to school, sporting events and so much more. I know what’s inside is good too, as the juice box’s packaging doesn’t require added preservatives to keep it fresh.”

Considered one of the top packaging innovations in history, juice boxes protect and preserve juice without the need for added preservatives or refrigeration due to the revolutionary aseptic technology. This retains the taste and quality of the beverage without the need for refrigeration for up to 12 months and allows families to purchase multiple units at once for pantry storage. Juice boxes from Tetra Pak are also a sustainable choice because they are made mainly from paper, a renewable resource that is continually replenished for future generations, and are recyclable (visit www.recyclecartons.com for more information on carton recycling).

“At Tetra Pak, we’ve been creating smart food processing and packaging solutions for decades, always with an eye on what consumers need and the ongoing changes in the way we consume food,” said Carla Fantoni, vice president of communications for Tetra Pak U.S. & Canada. “It is very exciting to be celebrating one of our most iconic packages and to know it is more relevant today than ever.”
