A Musical Tribute to the Packaging We Know and Love

Packaging professionals who are immersed in this dynamic market are reminded of it in their everyday lives.

For me, that was apparent during a recent road trip with my son while driving on the interstate far west of Chicago. As the houses and buildings morphed to a restful rural landscape, I took more notice of the songs playing on the radio. They were oldies as usual, my son’s favorite genre and one I find satisfyingly nostalgic on occasion.

What was different this time is that I perked up during a song by the group The Box Tops because it brought packaging to mind. Thereafter, as I kept eyes on the road, my ears were keenly attuned to packaging suggested by title, lyrics, or group name.

That music “rewind” recollection now joins flawlessly with executive editor Lisa Pierce’s idea for a Packaging Digest music playlist. Some may be a stretch, but we call that poetic license. We hope you enjoy it!
