3. How Amazon developed a leak-free trigger sprayer

Brands selling through Amazon’s ecommerce marketplace may have experienced some painful profit losses due to repacking fees to prep a product for distribution within the rough-and-tumble small-parcel environment. Changing your primary and/or secondary package to better survive direct-to-consumer shipping might be an option.

Amazon has been busy helping brands with just this challenge, and here’s an example of a success for liquids sold in trigger-spray bottles. It’s a win-win-win for the leading etailer, brands and consumers.

1. You know you’re a packaging engineer if…

The packaging community’s response to our fun poll—which asks you to explain how you know you’re a packaging engineer—vaulted into outer space! Page views for this quick-reading and entertaining slideshow were four times the number of the second best-read article for the month.

Calling something “cardboard,” torn-open reclosable packs and lack of respect (or, quite frankly, even just recognition) for the job you do were among the pet peeves. But you also know things other people don’t—like what a Charlotte flap is and what crazing is.

The best part, though? Packaging engineers around the world continue to come up with new ways to describe themselves. I sense a “Part II” slideshow in our future…
