The company releases a low-cost closure system for flexible packaging. Bend-Seal is a 5/32- x 2-1/4-in. metal strip attached to an adhesive strip. After opening the package, folding the open end of the package twice causes the product's metal strip to effectively re-close the package by preventing the folded end from unfolding. The product's special adhesive keeps the strip in place until the package is discarded. Because the adhesive plays no role in the re-closing process, it can be used with powders and frozen foods, the company says.
